Is Metrogyl the Right Medicine For Vaginal Infection?

Sir I have been prescribed metrogyl oral 400 mg twice a day for vaginal infection. Its been 4 days am taking andiI think I have yeast infection now. Can it be adverse effect of metrogyl? Will it resolve on itself or should I again take antifungals for it?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Metrogyl (metronidazole) is the drug of choice for bacterial vaginosis. It can be taken as oral tablet or vaginal suppository. While taking metrogyl it is possible to get yeast infection. So i usually give with combination of clotrimazole. You can take clotrimazole cream (monistat) for local application if you have symptoms of yeast infection.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
